Little ones love all things bears — and this is one of the most adorable crafts they can make! This educational craft is designed to teach the circle shape and practise scissor skills. We have prepared circles of various sizes that you can print on a standard A4 sheet. Simple, quick, and completely loveable — and at the end they have a wonderful little bear to display in their room!
What You'll Need
- Printed circle template (below)
- Scissors (children's, with rounded tips)
- Glue
- Card for the background (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Print and cut Print the free template and let the little ones cut out the circles following the outlines. Excellent practice for using scissors and recognising the circular shape!
Step 2 — Make the ears Glue the two small white circles onto the two small brown circles to create the ears.
Step 3 — Add the ears Glue the ears behind the large brown circle, which forms the bear's head.
Step 4 — Add the muzzle Glue the white circle with the little mouth onto the lower part of the brown head.
Step 5 — Add the features Glue on the little eyes and the black nose. Use the finished design as a reference to check the result!
Step 6 — Display it Glue the bear onto a piece of thicker card so it can be displayed in their room — a unique decoration made with love!
Benefits for Children
Geometric shape recognition: The child becomes familiar with the circle through hands-on experience — cutting, gluing, and observing circles of different sizes. Early geometry in the most natural way!
Understanding size: By working with large, medium, and small circles, the child gains a practical understanding of size comparison — a core mathematical concept.
Fine motor skills: Cutting circular shapes with scissors is particularly demanding and highly beneficial — it exercises hand-eye coordination and finger strength.
Following instructions: The step-by-step construction helps children learn to follow instructions and work methodically.
Confidence and pride: When the little bear is complete, the child feels great joy and pride in their creation — a feeling that fuels the desire to create more!
