- Glue
- Markers or tempera paints
- Optional: glitter, stickers, pipe cleaners for antennae
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Print the Template Download and print the free template onto card.
Step 2 — Cut Out the Pieces Cut out the snail's body following the outlines. For younger children, an adult can help with the finer pieces.
Step 3 — Decorate the Shell This is the most fun part! Paint or draw on the shell with markers or tempera if you like — dots, stripes, or whatever the child imagines. Every shell is unique!
Step 4 — Assemble Fold the body so that your little snail can stand upright. Glue the shell and the eyes onto the body following the photos. Leave to dry thoroughly and the little snail is ready for its stroll!
Variations & Ideas Try making a whole family of snails in different sizes! You can also use origami paper for more vibrant colours on the shell, or add glitter for a sparkling finish. A perfect activity for talking to children about garden creatures and nature!
