Little explorers, get ready! With two toilet paper rolls and a little creativity, children make their very own exploration binoculars and are ready to discover the world! Simple, quick, and full of imagination, this craft turns every walk in nature or trip to the park into a real adventure!
What You'll Need
- 2 toilet paper rolls
- Printed template (below) or alternatively
- Tempera paints or markers
- Glue or tape
- Ribbon or string for hanging around the neck
- Optional: glitter, star stickers, coloured tape, feathers
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Print the Template Download and print the free template, or get started straight away with the two toilet paper rolls.
Step 2 — Paint the Rolls Lay the rolls on a flat surface and let the child colour them with tempera paints or markers. Zebra stripes, leopard patterns, stars — whatever the little explorer imagines! Leave to dry thoroughly.
Step 3 — Join the Rolls Glue the two rolls side by side with glue or tape. Make sure they are firmly attached.
Step 4 — Add the Strap Make small holes on the two outer sides of the rolls and thread a ribbon or string through so the binoculars can hang around the child's neck. The explorer is always ready!
Step 5 — Decorate! Add glitter, stickers, coloured tape, or feathers. Every pair of binoculars is unique — just like the little explorer who wears them!
Variations & Ideas Use the binoculars for role play — jungle explorer, treasure hunter, astronomer! You can also make a little game: write a list of things to find in the park and let the children "discover" them through their binoculars.
