The Walking Bee - Finger Puppet Craft

Buzz buzz! Meet the most adorable little bee that walks! This delightful finger puppet craft brings a bumblebee to life using your child's very own fingers as its legs. An easy make for preschool-aged children that combines creativity, fine motor skills and plenty of giggles!

  • Printed bee template (free download below)
  • Child-safe scissors (rounded tip)
  • Glue
  • Markers or coloured pencils
  • Optional: googly eyes for extra personality!

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1 — Print the template Download and print our free walking bee template. You can print in colour or let your child colour it in themselves in the next step.

Step 2 — Colour and decorate Colour the bee with its classic yellow and black stripes. Add googly eyes or draw them on. Don't forget the wings — white or light blue gives a lovely effect!

Step 3 — Cut out the template Carefully cut around the bee following the lines. Pay special attention to the two small holes at the bottom — that's where your child's fingers go to become the bee's legs!

Step 4 — Time to walk! Poke two fingers through the holes and let the bee come to life! Wiggle your fingers and watch the bee walk, dance and fly.

The walking bee is a wonderful starting point for little conversations: Where do bees live? What do they make? Why are they important for flowers? Act out little scenes, sing bee songs and let your imagination take flight!
