If you want your child to fall in love with books, start with a bookmark they've made themselves! These funny little monsters never lose the page — and they'll never get lost inside a book either, because your child will be delighted to look for them every time!
What You'll Need
- Printed template (below) or card in various colours
- Scissors (children's, with rounded tips)
- Glue
- Markers or stickers for decoration
- Optional: googly eyes, pipe cleaners for antennae
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Print the Template Download and print the free template. For a more durable result, print directly onto slightly thicker paper.
Step 2 — Cut the Pieces Carefully cut out the bookmark following the outline. Fold the corner section according to the instructions so it "hugs" the page of the book.
Step 3 — Bring Your Monster to Life! This is where the fun begins! Stick on eyes, draw teeth, add horns or antennae. Every little monster is unique!
Step 4 — Test It Out Slide the bookmark onto the corner of a page and watch the monster "eat" the book! Your child will burst out laughing.
For Even More Fun Make a whole family of monsters — one for each family member! You can also give them to friends or classmates as little gifts.
