A cheerful little fish and a frog — two water friends made with a little card and a lot of imagination! This double craft is perfect for teaching children about water animals while creating something wonderful with their own hands.
What You'll Need
- Printed template (below)
- Scissors (children's, with rounded tips)
- Glue
- Optional: googly eyes, glitter for fish scales, blue paper for background
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Print the Template Download and print the free template onto card, or glue the paper onto card for a more durable result.
Step 2 — Cut Out the Shapes Carefully cut out the fish and frog following the outlines. For younger children, an adult can help with the more detailed pieces.
Step 3 — Decorate Stick on googly eyes for a funnier result! Each child gives their own character whatever personality they like.
Step 4 — Assemble Glue the individual pieces (fins, legs, mouth) together following the photos. Leave to dry thoroughly.
Step 5 — Create an Underwater Scene! Stick the animals onto a blue sheet of paper to make a little pond or sea. Add seaweed, bubbles, and more fish for a complete underwater world!
Variations & Ideas Try making other water animals too — a turtle, starfish, or crab — for a whole underwater gang! A perfect activity for talking to children about the sea and the creatures that live in it.
