One of the challenges of making Christmas cards with toddlers is resisting the urge to finish the craft for them. It is far more important to focus on the process of the activity than on the final result. This easy Christmas tree card was designed so that adult help is minimal — and there are no significant parts that a young child couldn't complete on their own (with just a little help, of course)!
What You'll Need
- Printed template (ready to download below)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers or coloured pencils (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Choose the colours Print the ready-made template or buy A4 card stock in various colours. Let your little one choose the colours — a first opportunity for independence and creative decision-making!
Step 2 — Cut the strips Cut the colourful strips together. The lines are simple and straight — great scissors practice!
Step 3 — Build the tree Glue the strips onto the card one by one, starting from the trunk and working upwards — the strips get gradually shorter to form the shape of the tree!
Step 4 — Add the star At the very top goes the little star — or simply a pom-pom you may already have at home!
