How often do we discover Christmas wrapping paper tucked away in our drawers — paper we loved too much to throw away, or other themed papers collected over the years! This Christmas is the perfect opportunity to make the most of the materials we already have at home — together with our little ones — and create the most beautiful Christmas cards!
If you don't have any wrapping paper to hand, we've prepared some festive motifs that we hope you and your little ones will love.
What You'll Need
- Printed template (ready to download below)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers or coloured pencils (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1 — Choose your material Print either the ready-made colour template or the black-and-white version — both will give a wonderful result! Alternatively, use any Christmas wrapping paper you already have at home.
Step 2 — Cut the shapes Let your little ones cut out the triangles for the tree, the white piece for the snow, the tree trunk and the little star. A wonderful activity for learning shapes and practising with scissors!
Step 3 — Prepare the card Take an A4 sheet of paper and fold it in half — this will be your card!
Step 4 — Stick the tree together Help your little ones glue the pieces onto the front of the card as shown in the picture. Starting from the base and working up, your little tree gradually takes shape!
Step 5 — Colour in (optional) If you chose the black-and-white template, children can colour the tree in whatever colours they like and finish off by drawing snowflakes!
Step 6 — Write your wishes! Inside the card, children can write — with your help — their very own Christmas message. A handmade card filled with love is the most beautiful gift of all!
